Roku is the most locked-down platform we support. It does not allow sideloading, so IPTVhub works either through a Roku-approved IPTV channel or by mirroring from a phone or PC. It works well, but if you are buying new hardware we would steer you to a Firestick or Android box instead.
IPTV on Roku
Works via screen mirroring or the Worldwide IPTV channel
Setting up Roku step by step
You will need your IPTVhub username, password and server URL from your activation email. If you have not ordered yet, the 24-hour free trial gives you the same credentials at no cost.
- 1
Enable screen mirroring
On the Roku go to Settings → System → Screen Mirroring and set mirroring mode to Prompt or Always Allow.
- 2
Option A: install Worldwide IPTV
From the Roku home screen, open Streaming Channels → Search Channels and add Worldwide IPTV. Open it and enter the M3U URL from your activation email.
- 3
Option B: mirror from a phone
On Android, open Quick Settings → Cast and pick the Roku. On Windows, press Win+K. On iOS, use AirPlay from Control Centre. Most Roku models from 2020 onward support AirPlay 2.
- 4
Play from your phone's IPTV app
With mirroring active, open IPTV Smarters on the phone and start a channel. It appears on the TV.
- 5
Lock the phone screen orientation
Rotate to landscape and lock orientation so the mirrored image fills the TV correctly.
That is it
Your channel list, the 7-day programme guide and the on-demand library are now available on your Roku. Remember that you can install on as many devices as you like, and only simultaneous streams count against your plan.
Tips specific to Roku
These come from our support desk rather than a manufacturer datasheet. They are the adjustments that make a measurable difference in daily use.
Mirroring drains a phone battery quickly. Keep it plugged in for a full hockey game.
AirPlay from an iPhone gives noticeably better quality than Android mirroring on most Roku models.
If Roku is your only device and mirroring frustrates you, a Firestick is about $50 CAD and solves it permanently.
Roku Express models below 4K struggle with high-bitrate mirroring. Use an FHD stream.

The three issues our support desk sees most often on this platform, and the fix for each.

Setting up a second device
