A Canadian IPTV provider that publishes its address

We are a small operation based in Toronto serving 62,000+ Canadian households. We have never taken outside investment, which means we answer to subscribers rather than a growth target.

Why we exist

Because nobody else carried the regional sports feeds properly

IPTVhub started because two people in Toronto cancelled their cable subscriptions in 2016 and could not find a replacement that handled Canadian regional sports correctly. Every provider we tried carried a single national sports feed, which meant Alberta and Oilers fans watched a blackout screen while the rest of the country watched hockey.

That is a small, boring, specific problem. It is also the kind of problem that reveals whether a service was built by people who actually watch Canadian television or by an operation reselling a generic international package with a maple leaf on the website.

Nine years later the same principle drives most of what we do. We carry all four regional sports feeds separately. We carry the French lineup properly rather than as a token gesture. Our support hours are in Eastern time because our customers are. And we price in Canadian dollars so that nobody discovers a foreign transaction fee on their statement.

How we got here

10 years, briefly

  1. 2016

Started with 400 channels and one server

IPTVhub began as a side project run by two people who had just cancelled their own cable subscriptions and could not find a Canadian provider that carried the regional sports feeds properly. The first hundred customers were friends and their neighbours.

  2. 2018

    Added the full French lineup

Demand from Quebec and from bilingual households in Ontario and New Brunswick pushed us to carry the French-language sports channels, the private networks and the public broadcaster family properly rather than as an afterthought. Today roughly one subscriber in five watches primarily in French.

  3. 2020

    Rebuilt on a load-balanced network

The pandemic doubled our traffic in four months and our single-node architecture could not take it. We rebuilt on distributed ingest with automatic failover, which is the anti-freeze technology we describe on the features page. Complaints dropped by roughly 80%.

  4. 2022

    Introduced selectable connections

Until then everyone got two connections whether they needed them or not. Letting customers choose 1, 2 or 3 meant single viewers stopped subsidising large households, and our entry price dropped to $19.99 CAD.

  5. 2024

4K rollout and 18 edge nodes

Genuine 4K variants across premium sports and film channels, delivered from eighteen nodes with Canadian peering in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. This is where the 99.9% uptime figure comes from.

  6. 2026

    62,000+ Canadian households

We are still a small operation by design. We have never taken outside investment, which means we answer to subscribers rather than to a growth target, and we can afford to tell people when a competitor suits them better.

How we operate

Six things we commit to

Some of these cost us money. We do them anyway, because the alternative is running the kind of operation that makes people distrust this entire category.

1

We publish our address and phone number

A registered Canadian address and a working telephone number should be the minimum bar for a service you hand money to. A surprising number of IPTV providers offer neither, and that tells you something about how they intend to handle a dispute.

2

We publish the criticism

Our reviews page includes the four-star reviews and a section listing what people mark us down for. A page showing nothing but perfect scores means the reviews were filtered, not that the product is perfect.

3

We do not auto-renew

Nothing renews unless you explicitly ask for it. We think a service should keep customers by being good, not by making cancellation an obstacle course. It costs us money and we do it anyway.

4

We give the whole product away for a day

The free trial carries the complete library rather than a throttled sample, because a trial that hides the flaws only produces refund requests in week two. We would rather lose a sale than gain an unhappy subscriber.

5

We ask for as little data as possible

An email address and payment confirmation. Not your legal name, not your home address, not your phone number. We do not build viewing profiles and we have never sold data to anyone.

6

We say when the problem is ours

When a channel is down at source, we say it is down at source. When your Wi-Fi is the issue, we say that too. Neither answer is satisfying, but both are more useful than being strung along.

Who writes what

The people behind the guides

Our blog and setup guides are written by the people who run the network and the support desk, not by a content agency.

MD

Marc Delaney

Head of Canadian Operations

Marc has spent eleven years in Canadian broadcast and streaming distribution, including six at a national cable operator. He writes about the economics of Canadian television and why it costs what it does.

PR

Priya Raman

Streaming Technology Lead

Priya builds and tunes the delivery network behind IPTVhub. She writes the technical guides: bitrates, buffers, routers and the reasons your stream stutters at 8pm on a Saturday.

JT

Julie Tremblay

Customer Experience Manager

Julie runs the support desk and has personally walked several thousand Canadian households through their first IPTV setup. She writes the device guides and the plain-language explainers.

BW

Ben Whitfield

Sports Content Editor

Ben covers what is actually on: hockey rights, NFL scheduling, PPV cards and which channel carries which game in which province.

Being straight with you

What we will not claim

Marketing in this category has a credibility problem. Here is what we deliberately avoid saying.

We will not claim 100% uptime

Nobody achieves it, ourselves included. Our target is 99.9%, which still means several hours of degradation across a year. Any provider promising perfection is either not measuring or not telling you.

We will not claim every channel always works

Sources go down. When a feed fails at source we cannot conjure it back, and we will tell you that rather than blaming your equipment. Reported channels are typically re-sourced within hours.

We will not give you legal advice

We explain how the technology works and we point you at our terms. Whether your specific use complies with Canadian law is a question for a lawyer, not for a company selling you a subscription.

We will not pretend we suit everyone

If you own only a Roku, our experience is worse than on every other platform. If you want a regulated complaints process, traditional providers offer that and we do not. We would rather say so upfront.
