If you are buying new hardware

What we would actually buy

We do not sell hardware and we earn nothing from these recommendations. These are the three devices our support team suggests most often, for three different kinds of household.

Best for most people

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max

~$70 CAD

Cheap, plugs into any HDMI port, runs IPTV Smarters Pro natively, and has enough RAM to handle 4K sports without stuttering. Roughly four in ten of our Canadian subscribers use one.

Setup guide
Best for enthusiasts

NVIDIA Shield TV Pro

~$260 CAD

The best picture quality available on any IPTV setup. AI upscaling cleans up lower-bitrate channels, and TiviMate Premium on Android TV is the most capable guide interface in existence.

Setup guide
Best for less technical households

Formuler Z11 Pro Max

~$230 CAD

Behaves exactly like a traditional cable box. You enter a portal address once and then it is just a remote with numbered channels. This is what we buy for parents.

Five things that fix most problems

Before you contact support, these five checks resolve the large majority of what our desk sees. They are worth doing in this order.

  1. 1

Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi, or Ethernet if you can

2.4 GHz is congested in every Canadian apartment building. Moving to the 5 GHz band, or plugging in a $15 Ethernet adapter, resolves most buffering outright.

  2. 2

    Restart the device weekly

Fire OS and cheap Android boxes leak memory. A reboot clears it. This single habit eliminates a surprising share of complaints.

  3. 3

Set the player buffer to 3 to 5 seconds

Default buffers are often set to 1 second, which is too aggressive for a residential connection. Three to five seconds trades a moment of start-up delay for a stable picture.

  4. 4

Match stream quality to your real speed

If your device measures 18 Mbps, do not run 4K. Pick the FHD version of the same channel and the picture will be flawless instead of stuttering.

  5. 5

    Let the EPG finish downloading

The guide is a large file. On first launch it takes two to three minutes. Closing the app partway through leaves it blank, which people often mistake for a broken account.

A common misunderstanding

Devices and connections are not the same thing

You can install IPTVhub on as many devices as you own. The connection count on your plan controls how many of them can be playing at the same moment.

What you can do on 1 connection

  • Install on the living room TV, the bedroom TV, your phone, a tablet and a laptop
  • Log in on all five without any of them being deactivated
  • Watch on any one of them at a time
  • Switch devices freely, no cooldown between switches

What you need more connections for

  • Two people watching different channels at the same time
  • A game on the main TV while the kids watch cartoons upstairs
  • Leaving a channel running in one room while you watch elsewhere
  • A cottage or second home used simultaneously with the main house
Device questions

What people ask

Amazon Firestick and Fire TV, Android TV and Google TV, Android phones and tablets, generic Android boxes, Samsung and LG Smart TVs, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Windows PC, macOS, MAG and Formuler set-top boxes, Xbox, PlayStation, and Roku via mirroring or an approved channel. If a device can install a video player and reach the internet, it almost certainly works.

For most people, an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max running IPTV Smarters Pro. It costs about $70 CAD and handles everything well. For enthusiasts who want the very best, an NVIDIA Shield TV Pro with TiviMate Premium is unmatched for 4K sports. For less technical households, a Formuler Z11 is the closest thing to a traditional cable box.

Yes, and most people do. Install it everywhere. The connection limit only governs simultaneous playback. A single-connection customer might have it on the living room TV, a phone and a laptop, and simply watch one at a time.

We do. Our support team will walk you through installation on a call or over WhatsApp, and on 6 and 12-month plans we include a free scheduled setup session with a technician who does it with you step by step. We also publish detailed written guides for every supported device.
